The Bycan PS -28100PL is the latest to join the family of power supplies and battery chargers for commercial aircraft servicing. This model was designed for Pilatus aircraft which require a maximum output of 29Vdc into the aircraft avionics.

This equipment will provide the amps needed for gear retraction tests as well as the filtered power for all types of avionics service.

The PS-28100PL will furnish up to 100 amps at 28 VDC. It plugs into the APU connector on the engine cowling and automatically disconnects the battery so that it will not be drained by the servicing processes. A valuable ramp accessory.

The other units in the Bycan family of aircraft power supplies and battery chargers include the PS-2850, 28 volt, 50 amps this unit comes also with battery charging capability. Another model is the RB-14/28-25 (AKA, the Red Baron) dual DC output voltage14 or 28 volt, 25 amps. All APU models have a filtered DC output voltage to eliminate humming noise.

The PS-28100 and PS-1400 APUS's have been designed to operate with several values of AC input voltage.

When the united are ordered they are set at the factory to the customer's voltage, but they can be changed easily to work with other AC input by changing jumpers and connections on the terminal block inside the unit labeled (select AC voltage 1,2,3,4,5,6)

120 VAC Input (MAX ACC 35A)
Connect AV input to terminal block leaders marked 1 and 2 Connect jumpers between 1 and 3 and between 2 and 6

208 VAC Input (MAX ACC 21A)
Connect AV input to terminal block leaders marked 1 and 4
Connect jumpers between 2 and 3

220 VAC Input (MAX ACC 20A)
Connect AV input to terminal block leaders marked 1 and 5
Connect jumpers between 2 and 3

240 VAC Input (MAX ACC 18A)
Connect AV input to terminal block leaders marked 1 and 6
Connect jumpers between 2 and 3

Important Information
TheThe third receptacle (the smallest one) in the APU connector is provided to permit disconnection of the battery in the aircraft when the APU is connected.

In some aircraft, the battery is removed from the electrical system when a positive voltage is connected to the pin. On other it is the opposite.

If the opposite is desired, call Bycan for rewiring diagram.

In the Bycan design, both 14 and 28 volt units, positive voltage is applied to the pin when the front panel switch is in the power supply position, and removed in the battery charger position. This applies to PS14, 2850 units only.

For power supply only units do not use as battery charger or turn the battery switch on when testing your avionics this will cause hi output current and/or voltage causing damage to the aircraft avionics or APU unit.
